From April 22-24, the UC Undocumented Student Coalition hosted the first ever UC Undocumented Student Convening, where students across the University of California came together to discuss issues facing the undocumented community and their allies. The theme, Re(Claiming) Narratives, focused on standing in solidarity with one another, especially given the recent deportation raids and upcoming presidential elections. The conference was held at the iconic Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, California.
Although there are still many systemic barriers exhausting the undocumented community, the convening marks a valiant step forward towards bettering the opportunities undocumented students are given to succeed. In order to encourage sustainable change, it’s on us to join together, discuss strategies, and stand in solidarity with our narratives.
